Re-live the energy of our Centenary Celebration. Many, many, many past & present students & staff came together to celebrate 100 years of Ōpunakē High School in a weekend unlike any other – truly special. Massive thanks to James Aitken for capturing all the magic on film & photo. #legend He aha te mea nui o te ao? He tangata he tangata he tangata! What is the most important thing in the world? McDonald Real Estate are proud to support the Opunake High School Surf Team and wish them all the best for their third national secondary school surf competition up north and a trip to Australia next year. 🏄 ... Ōpunakē High School would like to acknowledge the passing of the Rt. Hon. James B Bolger this past week.
More commonly known as Jim, he attended our kura in the late 40's, leaving to work on the family farm.
In our 75th Jubilee, he commented "I have fond memories of a small friendly school. We all came from local communities that had a strong sense of identity"
Rest in peace.
